A teaching tape for LQ-07, Fluorescence Energy Budget and Stokes's Rule

Stokes's Rule as an Energy Budget

Walkthrough of Einstein's 1905 §7 energy accounting for fluorescence emission and its deviation cases.

Where it starts

The settings the tape begins from, under the constant set modern-si-2019. Values are the model's own, not the laboratory control's display: a radius of 5e-7 is half a micrometre.
SettingValue
Exciting Frequency ν₁ (nu1)850
Emitted Frequency ν₂ (nu2)850
Absorbed Quanta k (multiQuantumK)1
Absorbed Optical Power (absorbedPowerMicrowatts)1
Quantum Yield Y (quantumYield)0.5

What it changes, and what to expect

  1. Set Emitted Frequency ν₂ (nu2) to 900 changes what the run starts from

    Anti-Stokes Disallowance

Emitting at nu2 = 900 THz requires 3.722 eV, exceeding the absorbed quantum.

  2. Set Absorbed Quanta k (multiQuantumK) to 2 changes what the run starts from

    Multi-Quantum Absorption

If k = 2 quanta are absorbed per process, 7.031 eV is available.

These are the values the tape's author recorded, not a result this page computed. Nothing here runs the instrument. Open LQ-07 with these settings: the link opens it with them already in place. Compare what it gives you with what is recorded here. The settings travel in the link and the laboratory reads them as it loads, so without JavaScript it opens at its worked example instead.
